ILLUSTRATIONS

I delved into art through illustration. I have recently been focusing on a series of posed drawings where the characters recognize the camera/viewer and react to it with different attitudes.

One of my recent projects was the cover art for the album “Volumina” by Mexican Experimental Composer, Mercedes Montemayor. Her meditative and melancholic music were a reference frame for the illustration, where I integrated a flattened gothic architecture, synthezers and three monk-like figures.

The five point perspective was used to push the focal point further backwards and reflect the echoes of the music in a chamber. The checkered floor reinforces the depth of the space. Mercedes´ contrasting timbral pallette is represented with chiaroscuro lighting.
