Miktlan 27. Dir. Yolanda Martinez (2024)
Storyboard and Art DirectionThis summer (June 2024) I had the oportunity to take up art direction, something that has always been a strong interest. I worked as the art director and storyboard artist for a short film titled “Miktlán 27”.
The story follows a young woman who finds herself trapped in her subconscious, if she wishes to get out she will have to sit all her demons down in order to have a peaceful dinner.
The script lent itself to fabricate a world rich in texture and to take advantage of the filming location. The challenge was showing our protagonist´s mental state through her surroundings. Working with director Yolanda Martínez was a illuminating experience as we developed the visual rythm from the script unto the storyboard. The film is currently in post production.
